Statutory Registration

Complete statutory registration for your business in Goa — the mandatory employer and tax registrations: EPF, ESIC, GST, TAN and the Shop Act — obtained at the right thresholds and the right time, so you stay compliant as you hire and grow.

Overview

Statutory Registration, handled end to end.

As a business hires staff and crosses turnover thresholds, a set of statutory registrations becomes mandatory. The main employer registrations are EPF (provident fund), generally required once you employ 20 or more, and ESIC, generally required at 10 or more employees in covered areas within the wage limit, alongside the Shop Act licence for your premises.

On the tax side sit GST (above the threshold or for inter-state/e-commerce supply) and TAN for TDS. Professional tax applies only in states that levy it — Goa does not. We identify which registrations you must hold and when, and obtain them, complementing our broader registrations service.

Frequently asked questions

Statutory Registration, answered.

What statutory registrations does a business need?

The main statutory registrations are EPF and ESIC for employees, GST and TAN on the tax side, and the Shop and Establishment licence for premises. Which apply depends on the number of employees, wages and turnover. We map and obtain the ones your business requires.

When is EPF registration mandatory?

EPF (provident fund) registration is generally mandatory once an establishment employs 20 or more persons, with voluntary registration possible below that. We confirm your position and register you when the obligation arises or where you choose to opt in.

When is ESIC registration required?

ESIC registration is generally required for establishments employing 10 or more persons in covered areas, for employees within the prescribed wage limit. We assess applicability based on your headcount and location and complete the registration.

Does a business in Goa need professional tax registration?

Professional tax is a state levy and applies only in states that impose it; Goa does not levy professional tax, so no PT registration is needed for a Goa business. If you have employees or operations in states that do levy it, we handle PT registration there.

Do I need a TAN?

A TAN (Tax Deduction and Collection Account Number) is required if your business is liable to deduct TDS on payments such as salaries, rent or contractor fees above the thresholds. We obtain the TAN and set up your TDS deduction and return filing.

How do these relate to GST and the Shop Act?

GST registration is required above the turnover threshold or for inter-state and certain other supplies, while the Shop Act licence is needed for commercial premises. Together with EPF, ESIC and TAN, they form the core statutory set, which we obtain and keep current.
